Coyote Price?

Submitted by Craig on 1/28/02. ( ) 66.186.175.203

I am new to the business side of taxidermy and have been all but giving my work away for the practice and because I do not have a licence. The problem is I am starting to get more practice than I want and would like to maybe make a few dollars. What do you folks charge for a coyote rug or a shoulder mount and maybe say a shoulder mount with a tree rat in its mouth.
Thanks, Craig

Get licensed

Charge an amount that allows fair compensation for your time, experience, expertise, and total expenses. Free work is usually worth the amount charged. If you are truly past that point, get licensed, be legal, and charge accordingly.

That is a somewhat fair answer. I am in the process of getting my license and that is why I was looking for some ligitamate pricing. What is a fair price for labor I guess I could just pull a number out of a hat. I Thought I might be able to pick up a few suggestions here.

I am also new to the business side of it. Although I am not as good as some I am better than a lot I have seen out there. Because I dont take in much work I dont rely on it for income so I dont charge very much. Right now my wife is telling me to raise my prices but as I get better I will. Most people jump at the prices when I tell them what I charge because they are so low but I do make money from it and I get the experience.
