Can anyone tell me, can you shampoo or anything else, to help in getting the fur clean and fluffy? I mounted a deer for the first time it turned out great but the fur is flat and not fluffy. Im about to do another one and didnt want to make the same mistake twice...

Yes, it is alright to wash your capes. I use dawn and a bacteriacide, then rinse thoroughly in cold water. To help with more, we would need your method of preserving or tanning. There should be tons of methods on preparing whitetail capes in the archives. Good Luck.
wash it, let it dry, brush it out with a wire brush, fluffy and clean. Works on an "over oiled" cape too!
