i have looked the archives over, and even asked this question a couple years ago, i have found you use fur bleach xl, but my
question is , how does the process go? do you bleach it before skinning? after? or on the dried-mount? how do you do it?
I bleach my hides after they are tanned (from the tannery) but before I mount them. I bleach for 20 minutes only and rinse and neutralize. If they are still stained, I bleach once more but no more. Once mounted, I spray a conditioner on the hair to make it silky and less brittle. Some people wait until the hide is mounted, make the bleach into a slurry and paint it only on the effected spots. Once dried, they brush it out.
