What is wrong with people?

Submitted by Scott on 2/8/02. ( sschuh@grapevine.net ) 216.117.39.12

I cannot believe how many helpless people there are that rely on everyone else to wipe their ass.I mean I have found tons of info in the archives and then if I don't and can't figure it out by myself then I ask the question. When I constantly have to comb through the same things everyday I can see how you veterans get tired of it also.I mean, asking about how to kill a coon, come on.Or DP or fleshing or should I tan or blah blah blah. Please excuse my harshness BUT READ!It is there just READ!Then if you just cannot figure it out then ask.Sorry if you are offended but it takes time to go through and answer every repeated question.

To the person that knows everything, Scott

This response submitted by Eric on 2/8/02. ( shinky@ameritech.net ) 64.109.200.186

I am so sorry I have wasted your time, Scott. If you were so offended by
my question, then why waste your valuable time responding to it. Maybe
I should just email you from now on since you seem to think you know
everything. I must have been wrong, but I thought this site was to help
learn taxidermy, and things we didn't know, to ask questions. How else
do people learn things without asking. I'm sorry I wasn't born knowing
everything like you were. Maybe I should have checked the archives, but
I didn't. People post questions on here to get answers not smart ass
coments. Eric

OOOooooooh Scott

This response submitted by George on 2/8/02. ( georoof@aol.com ) 205.188.209.104

You done good. Yox and JC and Old Fart and I am happy to meet you LOL. And Eric, you're full of it. People SOMETIMES ask questions on here to learn but a great deal of them are whiners like you who come on here expecting instant gratification with very minimal effort. The site IS to help taxidermists, not, as Scott so succinctly put it, wipe their butts. HELPING anybody entails an effort on both parties. If the other party isn't pulling their load, it's not called HELP, it's called doing somebody else's work FOR THEM.

George

This response submitted by Eric on 2/8/02. ( shinky@ameritech.net ) 64.109.200.186

Nobody is wiping my butt. I did check the archives after I posted the response
to Scott. Nothing. Your'e right I did need a quick answer. I have learned
an awful lot from this site. If people want to help than why complain
just don't post a response to the question. Like I said I checked the
archives but didn't find any answer. Maybe people don't know exactly what
to type in. Maybe I didn't either, that's why I didn't find anything.
People did respond to my question and I thank them, I'm sorry if I offended
anyone, that was not my intention. Eric

WHOOOOOSH.....over Erics head....I even felt the breeze.

This response submitted by Leanna on 2/8/02. ( scardeer@cornernet.com ) 207.195.212.55

Eric, when you are done feeling sorry for yourself, think about this. We DO want to help! By posting such things as CHECK THE ARCHIVES and READ THEM...we are HELPING. As stated these guys are sick of answering over and over and over again. So don't answer then is your motto? NO, it can't be, or the archives will be full of silly monotonous crap. We are weeding the garden here, not belittling anyone. And I think it's FINALLY catching on, as Scott has given us all hope! THANKYOU Scott!

How can this be explained any more transparently?

alright,alright..............

This response submitted by Scott on 2/8/02. ( sschuh@grapevine.net ) 216.117.39.127

First of all this wasn't only directed at Eric but to all of the other stuff that is repeated every day.My apologies to you if offended. And I do not know much of anything other than I want to learn taxidermy BETTER!I am not a veteran but more of an amature wanting to know stuff that I don't have the answers for OR can't find anywhere else. You could have either refused the customer or took the coon and said you would take care of it instead of doing it in front of a customer. What they don't know won't hurt them or anyone else. And by the way,if you send me another nasty e-mail,I will turn it over to the webmaster and have you sited for harassment. As I said,I apologize if you were offended and don't want to make enemies with anyone here.

Scott

Type in "Dispatch"

This response submitted by The Taxidermologist on 2/8/02. ( stephen.rogers@attbi.com ) 151.201.62.1

Again, I do not wish to enter the foray but the word "dispatch" will produce a series of 12 answers - the best posting is "how to kill a rabbit" which has info by Yox, George, John C., JT and others. Search time .05 seconds.

Using the word Killing is a bit broad and brings up 152 postings, most not relevant to your situation.

GROW UP

This response submitted by . on 2/8/02. ( . ) 208.135.164.195

You can tell who the childish people are on this site! If you feel like your wasting your time, answering a ? that has already been asked. then don't bother! Asking a ? that has already been asked, is like bitching and moaning and wasting space on this site! Tell me whats the diference I would leave my E-mail address and name but I don't want to be botherd by a bunch of children!

well

This response submitted by Bill Yox on 2/9/02. ( ) 152.163.189.101

Grow up's post was another example of wasted space. No kidding? Did it ever occur to anyone that some of us are asked to monitor this site a bit, so that Ken doesnt have to baby sit every day? He clearly points out rules in his masthead above, yet folks do these things and more, every day. So, us grumpy know-it-all regulars keep scolding some of you until you either follow the format or get offended and leave. Works like a charm.

Huh?

This response submitted by Todd T on 2/9/02. ( ) 152.163.189.101

And all this time I thought, if you wanted to kill something you just shot it. Its always worked for me.

What is wrong with people?

This response submitted by Joe Mahoney on 2/9/02. ( info@mjtaxidermy.com ) 208.16.251.5

Though there are some questions that should not be posted and those that are repeats just remember as a new taxidermist things may be just overlooked or just does not come to mind at the time,However as they gain knowledge we can only hope that by helping them here and maybe by being a little forgiving instead of rude to them, they too willl someday help others just getting started and not be so rude as to bash there questions as I saw here. Now as for waisting others valueable time here, not possible if your time is so valueable and you did not want to help others with such questions you would not be reading this anyway.Just a word to the wise treat others as you would like to be treated (no matter what)

I guess that is why........

This response submitted by Scott on 2/10/02. ( sschuh@grapevine.net ) 216.117.39.251

I am like I am because people in the past half repeatedly pushed me too far.You are only nice to a certain, tolerable point until you change.Anyway,we have reconciled our differences through e-mail.I am only tired of reading a post and then the same one a day later.

Why complain about it?

This response submitted by Monster Buck on 2/11/02. ( ) 152.163.188.37

I've seen a few posts about people not looking through the archives. Why complain about it. You don't HAVE to read the thread, and you don't HAVE to reply to it. Maybe someone came up with a new technique within the time of the last thread on the topic. They as well as others most likely wouldn't know it if they had just looked under the archives. It's about helping people of all skill levels out to become better at what they do. Anyways have a good day.

It's a frame of mind

This response submitted by LH on 2/12/02. ( coyote156@hotmail.com ) 208.191.33.44

I started looking at this site every day since just after it was born. I didn't know much at the time, just like a lot of you new guys. Since then, I've done some nice work, learned a lot about doing taxidermy, and not all of it was posted in this forum. At some point, you have to develop the mindset of a taxidermist. At that point, any problem you encounter is fixabl;e and you know this for a fact, rather than freaking out and thinking you've ruined your customer's trophy. Read the postings here. "THINK" like a taxidermist, and when you come across a new challenge, you'll find out that you can develop your own way of doing things if you just take the time to apply yourself and some thought to the issue at hand. Over time, I've forced myself to seek my own answers, and only after finding my own solution have I come to this forum, conducted a search, and found that my idea has been used by many other guys and gals, and successfully, to boot. With the upgrade in the main page for the forums, it takes a mere fraction of the time, requiring a fraction of the typing as is required to type in a whole problem/ question. Do yourself a favor and learn to use that search function first. Usually, while looking for "A", you're going to find "B,C,D,and E" along the way. Just about everything that can be aaid about taxidermy has been covered here. There's literally nothing new under the sun. Use this site as a reference source rather than a crutch. I can think of several instances where I've run up against a problem I couldn't solve, rushed over to the 'puter, logged on and typed in a key word to find my answer .05 seconds later - didn't have to wait until later that day for someone to answer. How could it possibly be better than that? Enough already.

do not respond then!

This response submitted by me on 2/13/02. ( ) 206.101.124.105

If you don't want to answer then simply do not respond! simple as that nobody wants to here someone scolding someone else. That's nobody's Job

if ti wasn't

This response submitted by guess who on 2/14/02. ( like I'm really going to dirty my name ) 199.174.41.92

Just remember.. If it weren't for the questions.. there would be no archives to begin with.....and with the advancements in the feild, the same question asked today might not deserve the same answer as yesterday...

Food for thought.

Talk about becoming gun-shy

This response submitted by Ouch on 2/14/02. ( not today ) 209.180.63.194

Wow, I wish you guys put as much effort into answering questions as you spend trying to prove your point or insult somebody. I'm glad I didn't ask no more than three questions on this forum in the last three years. That must have been before all the veterans here got tired of responding to inquiries of us beginners.
Anyway, Scott is a looser for responding in a demeaning way (same way others have responded) and Eric will probably never ask another queation on this forum. Happy? Good.

Maybe

This response submitted by Duane on 2/15/02. ( ) 64.12.96.9

Maybe the questions from beginners are asked in the hopes that someone like Yox, Bruce or any of the pros that we read about in all of the magazines will talk directly to them. I know the very first question I asked on this forum was answered by John Belucci himself. MAN that was the coolest thing since sliced bread!

I would not get too flustered at what Scott says

This response submitted by Tenbears on 2/18/02. ( ) 205.188.208.133

I have been coming to this site since It first opened. I buy a lot on the for sale. I seldom advertise to sell, and do not post much, occasionally I see a post that stirs me a bit and I get involved. More so lately than in the past. seems to me that every phase of this forum has bitching in it. I have been looking them over, and have responded with my opinions in a few. Now I come to realize that most of them are started by Scott. I think he is either a plant to stimulate participation, OR a want to be Taxidermist who says whatever he feels will win the approval Of George, and all the other old grumpy guys here who he sees as his Idles. I mean here is a guy who by his own admission is just a hobbyist, yet he feels he has to demonstrate superiority by busting the balls of everyone he can. But that is okay, I actually find it amusing

My 2 cents

This response submitted by Mike on 2/27/02. ( ) 65.137.104.33

The ONLY thing I find frustrating on the site is SPELLING.But hey, even I make missteak now and then. Ooops, see what I mean.
