I got my first artificial bear nose and was surprised that it was just foam. Maybe I got a cheap one, I don't know. Does the foam need to be coated with anything (like mod podge) or just paint as is. It doesn't look too bad, but it's just hard foam.

Just did my first bear rug and used a artificial nose. Got the same one you have so I just painted it and sealed it with a matt finish.
I only use them if you want to use the real skin. Then you can place the nose skin over the foam.
When their painted they look like a fake nose. When you order one make sure you get black. Their a harder plastic and look more like the real thing.
