coyote artificial nose

When doing an artificial nose on a coyote do you leave some of the black nosepad on the hide to blend with epoxy into the artificial nose or just cut where the hair meets the nose pad? I've browsed the archive a little and it they say just cut at the hair line and glue down. I would think that it would be better to leave jsut a smidge of nose on the hide then the transition would be easier to blend.
Thanks, Eric J

HEllo Eric,
Simply around the nose pad, where the hair meets the pad.
The reproduction noses have a small shelf on them where the skin will lye on, blending into the pad nicely.Any Epoxi work is seldom needed.
John Cargil makes a nice repro nose.

Have a good day,
Dave

with Dave, that Cargill's noses are great. However I'm with you on leaving a slight line of nose material to epoxy to. Flexing of the leather in drastic humidity changes will over power most adhesives causing an "open line" around the nose.
