What do you do when you mount a rat about it's tail. i have a few pocket gophers to mount and i got to wondering about them. will the bone pull out like a squirrel?

I've never done a pocket gopher, but I've done RATS, and their tails do pull out just like a squirrel!
PS. A tip -- pipe cleaners work great for recreating rat tail bones!

if you mount the rat for commercial go with Amy's suggestion. If it is for competition I would do a casting on the actual tailbone and use it.
