Can a bear be remounted?

Submitted by Heidi Eddy on 3/28/02. ( www.candletax@hotmail.com ) 208.14.142.166

I have a number of people ask me if I can redo mounts. Usually I reply no due to the time frame since mounted. I had a man ask me if I could remount a black bear mounted 2 yr ago. I guess it was put on a form that was too small and has unneccessary wrinkles and is quite a bit smaller that the original. I would like any suggestions or examples of what may work or hasn't worked in the past. Thanks!

According to the preservation method and adhesive, this could cause more harm that you want to fix. Tanned skins tend to form "memory" and may not allow itself to be remounted. They also can become extremely brittle and fragile even in a 2 year time span. In my opinion, I only remount for freshening, not bad taxidermy work.

Only

If you call frequently and send flowers before asking for the next date.
