I have a short-tailed weasel I trapped and would like to try mounting it, and wondered what the best way to skin one out was, and how to keep blood and other fluids off the white hair while skinning. I work on mostly birds so far, mostly cause that's what I'm good at, but want to expand into doing more animals. I would imagine it is different than just skinning an animal out to sell on the fur market, like I am so used to. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Dana, If you tube it ( case cut ) you can pull the skin over the body as you skin from the rear to the front which will keep the fur inside and covered which will keep the blood and any body fluids off the hair.( whew )The only sewing now is between the rear legs which will help give you a quality mount. Good luck.
