This may be a stupid question...but how do I recognize a bobcat vs. a lynx?

If you're in MS, its a bobcat, in AK, it's a Lynx

If by some chance you are in an overlap area, lynx have dish shaped faces with tufts on their ears and oversized feet (they tend to be 1/3 to 1/2 bigger than bobcats as well). They are mostly grey in color. Bobcats have a defined face with color strations as well as spots that are more defined as you travel south. Bobcats color goes from a grey in the far north to a golden yellow in the far south.

Also look for black tipped tail

The tip of the tail on a lynx is solid black . The tip of the tail on a bobcat is black but has white on the underside running through the the black.
