Splitting fox ears

Submitted by Neil on 3/20/02. ( hunte567@aol.com ) 152.163.188.230

Can someone tell me how to split fox ears without tearing them. No
matter how careful I am the ears always seem to tear. Is there any
trick on splitting those thin ears. Thanks for the help. Neil

...you just have to take your time and do it very carefully. I have a small fleshing beam that I made out of a 1X2, tapered and rounder to a round point on each end. one end id a wider radius like a deer ear would be on the end the other is closer to the fox shape but neither is sharp, just rounded. this is what I use to help with all mammal ears. I made mine about 15" long. I use that and take it slow. Good luck.

I made a tool out of a welding rod. Round the end off with a grinder and turn it slowly...it makes it some easier.
I also sharpened the other end of the welding rod to make a little hole in the tip of the ear. I use the bondo method (the best LOL) and this makes a place for the air to escape so I have no bubbles.

Thanks
