I catch hares quite frequently and (I leave the skulls to rot in muslin) I was wondering how you preserve the ears cause I cant see how they would retain their shape even if I froze it? Any other ideas for hare pelts are welcome I'm clueless!

I tried to e-mail you. I am not sure what you are asking, but you need to invert the ears, Splitting the open, to the tips and use thinned down bondo with resin, or epoxy sculpt to place in the ear to hole the shape. both methods work great, and with a little time amd attention to detail you can get a very smooth ear. Now, getting the ears to split open, you will have to work at it and practice as you will break a few open till ou get the hang of it. you can use a small needle and tread to sew them back up after breaking them open, or just clean the hot bondo out of the hair before it cools and becomes permanant.
