I've just mounted a raccoon standing and holding food in his front paws. The belly skin has some wrinkles because the ventral curvature is of shorter arch than the dorsal curvature.I have worked out most of the wrinkles but not all of them. This mount is intended for competition. Is there an effective way to get rid of such wrinkles or are they acceptable provided they are not severe and do not disturb the fur pattern? Thanks.

I understand what your saying about the forms posture, but am wondering if your relief cuts were deep enough. The skin if tanned probably got stretched or elongated itself during the process or perhaps during when you sewed it shut. I think a form with more girth may have been in order. If it's just been mounted, try working them out while it's drying, this may help.
I'm no judge, but from past experience, undoubtedly he/she is going to feel up your coon from top to bottom, and if it doesn't feel natural (wrinkly) then you're going to get docked some points, but if it hasn't effected the hair pattern at least they can't get you for that. Maybe someone else has a solution. Hope you do well. Marc R
Like Marc said, if they feel it, they willdeduct for it.You may try wrapping some of the cotton sheet batting they use on the breasts of some bird mounts. It can easily be inserted through a belly incision, and covered up so as not to se the seam where you resew. this would fill out the hollowed area. The proper way of course would be to remount it, and alter the form. Just an idea!
