I was asked by a guy if it was possible to to a remount on a 1/2
body mount of a bear. Its been mounted appox. 3-4 years it was tanned he said, just that its a poor mount. I remounted deer for custermers, but never a bear. Is there larger risk with rehydrating
bear plus the time period. Any info would be great.

Brad, Lots depends on how it was mounted. Some adhesives don't give up easily and a 4 year old tan could be good or it could be fragile. If it were me I would attempt it ONLY at the risk of the owner. Especially if the basic pose stays the same, but if it is to be mounted very differently you could have more problems. I have done a couple of deer where the faces were ok so I actually sawed off the mounted head after loostening the shoulders. Then I attatched the mounted head to the new mannikin and did the new mount from the throat down. At any rate jobs like this need to be done with the customer's understanding that it might not work.
