I have a frozen squirrel in the freezer and I noticed a little collected frost in the facial area. I was wondering if this little bit of freezer burn will effect the mounting process in any way? I know an important step is to get all of the air out of the plastic bag but how do i get it ALL out? At the moment i am just using plain ziplock bags should i be using anything else? Thanks for all of your help. -Sam

I use plastic bags for freezing, pretty sure everyone does in one way or another.
Should not hurt the critters much is at all.
Those wascals...Freezer burn is caused by the drying out of the skin while frozen..Sublimation...water going directly from the solid state to the gaseous state without liquifying is the culprit.
Plastic bags and the like tend to get brittle when cold and bumping them around in the freezer creats cracks and thus holes in the bags. Put the plastic wrapped critter in a paper bag for long time storage.
Avoid frost free freezers also they'll burn em twice as fast...
