Question about washing and about basacryl?

I was wondering when to wash a cape to get grease/blood/or dirt. Do you do it right after the salt? I am very new and just got my taxidermy supplies one of the products was basacryl. I have now been reading the forums and read some stuff about basacryl that says it doesn't work. She i just pitch it and get new stuff? If so what should i get? Do i even need a bactericide, or just on questionable capes? Thanks for your help-Sam Terhaar

sam , not a hide comes into my shop that doesnt meet mr. basacrly. as for washing , youll have to play that by ear, examine the hide , it might not stand a wash job if it is in bad shape , i suggest using kemal in your soak solution . hope this helps, ed

Is this a good process. Skin, flesh, salt, rehydrate, wash, pickle, shave, pickle, neutrilize, tan, oil, and mount. Can the rehydrate and wash be combined in one. Is this where i can use the bactericide. I was thinking using dawn as a cleaner, salt soulutions as relaxer and some sort of bactericide. Am i on the right track?

you sound ok to me
