salted deer capes

Need some info on salted deer capes.They are rock hard ,how should i rehydrate them,should i use water,salt & a bacteria killer,and how long should, are can i rehydrate them. Can kemal 4 be used as a bacteria killer? thanks for the info.

I use Rittels Ultra Soft,soak it for 8hrs or until fully relaxed,then rinse well and pickle if you order it ask for instuctions works very well.

Jamie, Make a brine bath- 2 lbs salt per 1 gal water. Soak dried capes till they relax. Depends on hide thickness as to how long- some take a day or a little more. Enjoy, Aaron H.
