What lure do most of you trappers use to trap coyotes! I have been trying a lure that is called canine call. It may not be the lure it migth be my technique that isn't productive I have caught coons on it.

trapped many, many coyotes using fish that he had caught and put in jars and buried in the summer, he dug these up come trappin season and used for bait. He always buried the fish in loose soil, put two or three sets about two feet apart in semi circle sifting sand/dirt over sets. pour some of the juice out on the area , covers your scent and attracts coyotes, foxes, bobcat, coon, and what ever you have in your area as preadators. Good trappin!

If and when you do catch a skunk, bury it with just the tail sticking out.Let it sit a few days and when the critters start working the area
set a few set around it and the trails coming to it. Snares are great for the trail sets if legal. You should be able to pull at least 2 dozen critters from this set up. Have fun and take a kid with you.

skunk method

was always my primary means for yote's....however i have caught them utilizing road killed bunnies and squirrel with the same technique described above (buried 3/4's near base of tree with semi circle of traps) very important to ensure you leave no scent in the area or on the traps...aside from boiling, waxing ,and dying traps i utilize rubber gloves and lots of fresh fox urine....works for me
good luck and if you need more details feel free to e-mail me

deer meat method

one of my favorite ways that is the cheepist i found is to set out about 5 large coilspring traps in a circle, but anchor each one seperatly, and make it where they cant intangle with each other{mainly the chains} when a cyote is in them, because if so yar chains will tangle up making yar swivels not werk properly there for sometimes loosing yar catch, i learned this the heard way. but be shure to bed them propperly and then take waxpaper and crumble it up and then up fold it and then cut a small slit in it sothat the dog can go threw it then put it over the pan and umder the jaws, making it sothat when you cover yar traps with sand or snow nothing will get under yar pan making it not go off. but back to the deer meat, after yar sets have been out fur about a week in the open area that has short grass if any finally take yar deer meat and place it in the circle but dont stop there, drive stakes threw the meet sothat the cyote cant just pull it instead of eating it right there because if he does this it will set yar traps off and have no cyote in them, { also learned this one the hard way} but be shure to try and not leave yar sent, oh and the reason that you set yar traps out a week before is sothat yar sent has time to disolve, cause if yar trap is attracting coyote with yar sent there it more than likely wont every return, expecially shy ones, welp hope it werks, safe trapping, any questions just email me, i dont know much but what i do ill tell ya

easiest set

This response submitted by Cole Hatcher on 04/16/2003. ( cowboy_4044@microsoft.com ) 204.246.11.12

bucket set for begginers is the easiest yet effective for coon mostly. Take a 5 gallon bucket, make 2 slits(about 3 nches deep 1-2 across) in the side directly across from each other, then put a 220 connibears in the slits put your bait in the back of the bucket very simple
good luck
