Im doing my first open mouth coyote and im having trouble grasping what im going to have to do with the lips in the mouth. I have read the arcives and gotten answers where people glue the lips to the jaw set and some make a grove and tuck. My question is mainly about the back corners and theback of the jaw set. I ordered the Van Dyke form that has a preinstalled jaw. Can someone explain a little better about the apoxie work? It sounds to me the best way would be to create a slot and tuck then apoxie up to the jaw set. but what about in the back area of the mouth where the back lips tuck and corners of the mouth. What kind of apoxie work do you do back there? I think its easy im just confused and not graspin it at the moment. can someone explain this a litte more. Any help would be great. This is my first open mouth anything. Thanks alot.

Mike, I'll assume this is not a competition piece you are doing. To finish the lips/mouth area after drying you simply apply Apoxiesculpt or similar product to edge of the lip skin and spread it into the mouth area to cover the "seam". How far you go is up to you but generally I would go as far as you can see. Using modeling tools should allow you to sculpt in the gums back into the rear mouth area to a point that you won't easily see where you stopped. As for making a lip slot you can do that or just use adheesive up to the edge and pin it in place. After the mount dries just sculpt over the pins. IMPORTANT to use good reference photos so that what you sculpt is pretty much accurate. Enjoy, Aaron H.
