I started off mounting WT deer. Just finished my first mount and had fairly good success. I would now like to try a squirel because curiosity has gotten the best of me.
Will my experience with mounting deer help me out in this task or is it going to complicate things and I should just plan on buy a guide to mounting squirrels.
Any help or advise will be greatly apperciated.
Thanks, Joe

Congrats on your deer! I, like you started with deer. I have only practiced on 2 heads and ran into a few "common" problems. Unfortunately, the deer season ended, so I concentrated on squirrels. I have just finished my first squirrel mount and did not have a hard time. If you have mounted a deer, you will probably find squirrels easy. I did have a problem with my first when I tanned it, but my second I used DP, and it seemed okay. The only thing I would say that can be difficult are the toes. They can be a pain in the butt! I have injected water, but it doesn't seem to ease the skinning in my view. The ears are also delicated to split. Since I am a beginner, I would think over time it gets easier, but overall, a squirrel is not a difficult animal to mount. Good luck with a squirrel : )
