coyote or raccoon?

I just wanted a few of your opinions on what would be a good specimin to do next. I have never mounted a lifesize raccoon or coyote, so which one do you think would be good to attempt to mount? I am new at taxidermy, so keep that in mind....I appreciate any feedback.

RACOON!

Coyotes are a stinking mess to do. I don't even like them for customers! Let alone do one for "fun" LOL! Seriously though a coon is just a little easier.

i would do a coyote over a coon any day. coons are a greasy mess and their ears are a pain to turn.

coy or rac

I despise doing coons as per the mess and fat mentioned above. But as far as the smell of the yote...a large jar of vicks goes a long way. I small dot under each nostril (yours not the yotes) does the trick! Around here the coons are easier to come by than the yotes though.

IMO...

I would rather do 50 coons a year than do 10 coyotes.Too much deodorizing on the yotes.

Yote in my poinion

In my opinion, the Yote is the way to go. The seem to turn and flesh very nicely. Easier than a deer I think. Yotes got a little odor but smoke a cigar and you will both stink! I just read a post the reccommended washing with bacteriacide prior to working on the hide. This is supposed to kill all the bacteria that cause all that strink! This is supposed to help with hair slippage that is so common in canines. I am going to give it a try next time. Coon are greasy as all get out. So you see, its all in the eye of the beholder. Also, dog toes might be easier to work on just because of size.
