stitch repair

Submitted by paul on 02/19/2003. ( ) 68.83.60.145

I mounted my 1st fox 3 days ago, i used a dry preserve on it, it turned out very good except on one of the back legs where my stitches apparently became too far apart, im now realizing some separation at the seem. Im being very critical of my own work and would like to know if there is a possible repair solution, I know if I would have used a tanning solution I would have been able to rehydrate and restitch, Is it possible to rehydrate a dry preserved pelt without any ill effects, hair slippage etc. Any imfo. or possible repair suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Wrap a wet towel around the leg with plastic on it. Check it after 4 hrs or so or leave it on over night. From there take a syringe fill it with hide paste and inject it into the bad area, fix the stitch job and then it should be fine.
