I have 2 projects spaced out so that they dont conflict with my time to much but both are new ground for me and I need some good references. First is a raccoon. I need some reference photos of what clay work needs to be done on the mannikin for the face and any other for that matter, I think the feet and toes wont be much of a problem for me but Im not sure about the face.
Second, Im doing a coyote shoulder mount that will be on a table pedistal, I need the same as above for the clay work needed but Im going to try this one with an open mouth(howling), Ill be using one of the new mouth pieces from McKenzie but Ive never set a mouth piece and could use some directions for this task.
What or where could I get the best reference materials for these projects?

As for the open mouth coyote, McKenzie has albums of most comonly mounted species and some not so common. They have an album of howling coyotes. I'm not sure that you will find pictures of clay application except in a book on mounting lifesize critters. WASCO has some materials on this. It was a recent issue of Taxidermy Today Magazine (I think)that I saw an article on those new mouth/nose sets that McKenzie is selling. It looks like a pretty straight forward kind of thing but when you get the set, if you have a specific question on installing it you can call McKenzie and ask for an advice person and they will help. Good luck with these and enjoy, Aaron H.
