I'd first like to say that I have enjoyed many, many hours of reading here. Your time spent, advising others, even those who you don't even know is commendable and appreciated. thanks, and be kind to me as this is my first entery.
Q: Even after searching the subject, I have an unanswered concern which I need clarification on prior to proceeding with this project/cutting the nose off my cape! I am a DP user. When one uses super glue/Zap-a-gap to secure the hide to the nose are there any concerns with bonding to the nose? Any special precautions I should take to make sure it does not pull away/shrink away as it sets up(other than good coverage of hide paste in that area)
thanks

First off to make sure you have a good bond rough up the nost where the skin will meet it. Then when you apply the zap a gap or super glue, plus Epo-Grip also has an epoxie for this but whatever you use do a section at a time. Now I like to push the skin forward towards the nose and glue it down. You don't want to push it back to the eyes. Make sure it's a little loose fit to allow for the shrinkage you'll get from using Dp. Also use a good hide paste.
I also do small game with DP, but I would never recommend using artificial noses with it. That's playing with nitroglycerin. The skin IS going to dry and shrink and the artificial nose will be torn free. Superglue will not last long term with DP. It crystallizes and breaks open. Do what we did BEFORE artificial noses, SKIN IT OUT, cut the nose off the form, put clay behind in that cutout and then mount the nose over it, seating it into the clay.
