Ermine Ears

Submitted by Peter on 03/04/2003. ( pspacek@gremada.com ) 209.180.63.194

How do you deal with ears on a small ermine. Do you try to split them? If so, what do you use to keep them in shape? Would you try to remove the cartlidge? Or do you just leave them and hope for the best? I think the ears may distort if left alone.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions you may have,
Peter

Hi Peter, I do split the ears but you do not need to remove the cartilage. All I do is put a little Epo-Grip inside and glue them back together and shape them as they dry. This will give you the naturally thin and transparent ear. Good luck.

Inject them?

I was told (or read somewhere) you can inject the very thin ears of small mammals. Not sure it you can use Preserve It(r) or not, but seems you can, then card them.

Anyone else know what I'm refering to?
