Does anyone out there have any tips or suggestions on how to remove burrdocks from coyote fur and tail without tearing out to much hair?
I didn't find anything in the archives on this subject.

grab one bur. and start pulling the hair from it towards the roots of the tail hair. when your done with that one , move to the next one. Have fun, I wish I had a quarter for every one I have removed.

look again, its gotta be there!

Or scroll back a couple weeks. We talked about soaking them, etc.

I wet the yote pelt in a bucket of water, then I use a small wire brush, seems to work for me and it takes just a few strands of hair with it..................

Hair conditioner

I go to doggy place and get one of the combs that removes hair balls, etc. Wash the dog with the conditioner, leave it in and then use the comb to remove the mess. When all done rinse well, dry the hair and then mount.

dog brush

This goes along with coyotes. Take a course toothed dog brush and brush them out. the hair that is removed is old hair that is dead and needs to be removed anyway. Just be careful not to pull hard enough to rip the tail. They are pretty tough, but can tear. When I brush burrs and stuff out of a yote, I usually end up with a softball sized ball of dead fur. Most of this is the thick stuff from the tail.
