Use clay to rebuild the 'man parts' if you wish.
Research Mannikins and McKenzie are both excellent quality, employing very capable sculptors. Why the difference in prices? Could be Research has a lower profit margin. I wouldn't hesitate to order from either (and I frequently do!).
Hope this helps!
is possessing an extensive knowledge of what the many pieces and parts are and what they're called. The parts to which you refer are generally referred to as either the genitalia or the scrotum. If you look for them in any of your vendor's catalogs, you'll have a hard time finding anything under "man parts", but I believe "scrotum" may be found. Not so much for squirrels, but for other mounts. Kinda makes you think of the guy who could only do half-life sized mounts because he couldn't tuck an anus without breaking into fits of giggles and blushes. The point is, simply, that we try to be as professional as possible here and it's no more embarassing to us for you to refer to a penis or scrotum as it would be to call a foreleg a leg or a nose a nose.
Madelyn allbright renamed them they are now call Cojones ,pronounced COHONES.
I got a word for YOU! After reviewing my "extensive knowledge" of people and responses like yours...ANAL! Sorry if that isn't "professional" enough for you!
PENIS SCROTUM TESTICLES SHEATH PREPUCE
If you can't say 'em, you should not be looking at them! This is basic biology, folks, not sex ed. No need to be embarrassed or to skirt the issue.
And one doesn't need cojones or a set of anal glands to say it. Why be a critic? Help Ben out!
# 1. Ben, you will need to lighten up on the man parts. Don't blush. You're dealing with an animal who is dead and not likely to complain if you look between his legs.
# 2. Cotton balls "painted over" with Apoxie-Sculpt will do the trick nicely without weighing down the scrotum so much that the man parts look like knees.
# 3. There's always female squirrels, out-of-season males, juveniles, and neuters to work on! Or freeze dry.
Just the other day ,i was skinning a male fox, and wondered how to do his - "genitals",
and was going to post that very question, But i worked it out in the end.
I dont think there is anything wrong with saying 'man-parts', either.
I suppose some forget that alot of 'un-professionals'come here for advice. Myself included.
And if everyone replyed back about how un-professional a question was worded,or typed, i dont think i could be game enough to ask questions anymore.
That would be sad, as this is the best forum for beginners to gain knowledge and i reccomend this spot to anyone who asks.
Sorry, had to laugh at that, Samantha! =)
I, too, got a chuckle out of 'man parts'. You are right that some people have a tendency to be a little grumpy at times with beginners.
Ben, Delroy is right, we taxidermists need to know the basic anatomy of the animals we mount. And I'm sure you probably knew the technical terms. But, I didn't see anything wrong with putting a little humor with it. We all knew what you meant.
I certainly don't have all the answers to taxidermy questions, but when I see a post I can answer, I do. As I've said before, many people were helpful when I started out. And part of my way of thanking them is to try to help others when I can. Don't be afraid to ask questions. But a word of advice, too. Whenever possible, search the archives to see if your question can be answered there. Many times it can.
Good luck!
Lol. Vikki, i didnt think of it like that when i posted. lol.
; )
lighten up delroy
First rule of thumb is this. If i were doing the squirrel and his little TALLYWACKER was needing a BOOST so to speak, just think of how if it was you on the morticians table getting ready to prepare you for your wake, if you wer4 a guy, how would you want to be remebered. make it three times the size, and make it proud and at attention LOL ROFLMAO
