Painting inside of bear mouth

Submitted by Dave on 04/08/2003. ( ) 65.117.121.200

Mounted two bear rugs open mouth. I cut a small slot around edge of mouth and tucked mouth skin into this slot. Plan on filling slot and blending in with apoxie sculpt. My question is---on the very interior of mouth where there is just the form between the mouth edge and the jaw insert, do I have to put somehting on the form that is showing or can I just paint right onto the form itself? Hope I explained myself clearly. Just didn't know if paint will adhere to the form itself or if I had to apply something to it first. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I usually use apoxie to build the jowls. Then blend it into the mouth insert. A lightly damp cotton cloth pressed over the soft apoxie will give you a nice blend and texture for the transition. Also I can't stress enough is to have, good reference photos. Good Luck!

Its cheap, brush it on, let dry, then paint.

that might be a Bad idea if you use lacquer based paint it will "eat" your foam, if you get it on there. try to get back in there with your apoxie, then paint.
good luck
