DRIED LIPS & NOSE.

Submitted by DOUG on 04/09/2003. ( ROADKING1951@HOTMAIL.COM ) 65.57.14.111

I skinned my Fisher last weekend after it was froze for 4 1/2 months, the head was removed at the time of catch & given to the D.N.R. well after this short time of being froze, the lips & nose were hard I smeared them with Dawn liquid & finished the feet. I ran out of time & refroze. When I thaw her out again can I soak her head in Dawn & cool water for about an hour to help soften? Or is there a better way? THANKS --DOUG--

i inject the dried areas with a very tiny needle and syringe filled with windex. this does take a little time but the results are amazing. it has always done the trick for me. ( have to be real careful though not to stick yourself, can be tricky when the skin is so hard, but can be done.) hope this helps.

You will need to wash the hide anyway. Turn the lips as far as you can, then place the hide in 4 gallons cold water with about 2 Oz. Kemel 4 let soak for around 20 min, then finish splitting the lips, if you still cannot go all the way. soak for a wile more. that should do the trick

THANKS!
