For the record...

I am one of those PETA people, and I am a vegetarian. I don't have a problem with taxidermy and eating meat... my problem is with the way that these animals are raised and killed. Unfortunately, the only way to REALLY humanely kill something is by either lethal injection (bartbituate overdose coupled with a potassium chloride overdose, something along those lines) or a skillfully placed explosive gunshot to the head. Unfortunately, in our disgusting society of consumption, neither of these things can be accomplished in a practical fashion. Therefore, humans continue to slash throats, electrocute, strangle, throttle, drown, crush and exsanguinate the living creatures that we raise in cramped, nauseating conditions or ruthelessly frighten, hunt and cut down. God put these animals on this earth for us to care for, not to torture.
Oh yeah, and stuffing a dead companion animal, unless it is at the request of that animal's former owner, is just nasty. What a disrespectful way to treat someone's deceased friend or potential friend.

Your opinion has been noted, even though we probably dont care. You be sure to let us all know when the animals start talking to you personally about being ruthlessly frightened or the cramped conditions you describe. You do know theres a term for giving animals human traits. Also, the next time you are electrocuted, be sure to tell us what that was like. Meanwhile, continue to sh1t green and find somewhere else to preach you drivvle...

You should be less concerned about the killing of animals and more concerned for the unborn children of our world who are being killed through by abortion!

Think about this

This response submitted by Donnie on 04/21/2003. ( ) 152.163.188.66

If peta is against any harm to animals and they are all vegitarians where do they grow these vegetables? Well they have to destroy trees where animals live and till up the ground where animals live and so on and so on. Destruction of habitat so that these vegetables can be grown. I could go on and on about this type of stuff but I wont.

But just one more item to think about. If your ancestors had refused to kill an animal or would have been vegitarians would you even be alive today?

Green or Lean?

Hey PETA PAN! If you stick by your guns, and say that all living things need to be respected and protected and treated ethically, I agree with you. There is a big difference between slaughtering a cow for food, and beating a dog to death! The problem is YOU people dont know the difference. Are not plants in the same category as animals? Aren't plants living breathing lifeforms also? Then why do you defferentiate between them and a hog? Thats Petas biggest problem! They are hippocrates! Next time you are eating a nice watercres salad, listen to the little plants scream in pain as they are pulled from the ground and their little neck stems torn off as they are put in boiling water! Sound stupid and silly to you? Thats how you sound to US!! Proud to be a meat eater!

hey birdy

you are soooo right we should treat animals as though they are people, next time i go hunting i will ask the animal if he has anything to say on his behalf, then i will have a little trial in my mind, and then if i feel the evidence supports his charges, i will shoot him in a very humane spot.

think how silly that all sounded X it by 100 and it still does not sound as GOOFY as that sh*t you people always spit out. you have a right to an opinion but what made you think we wanted it here, we don't go looking for you so piss off leave us alone THANK YOU!

Hi Bird
You said God wants us to take care of the animals. I agree. He said to Peter in the Bible Acts 11 verse 7 Rise Kill and eat. Do you think he had a rifel in those days? Read the book of Acts it was the first church. In fact read the hole Bible in will help you greatly. We as people all make mistakes. Spread the word to your Peta friends. You will see that Peter argued with God also about eating animals also. But God told him. I hope this will help you.

I don't know about you folks...

...but I hunt just to boost my ego and make me feel like a MAN.

It has nothing to do with being in the outdoors and bonding with friends and family. It has nothing to do with fair chase and placing food upon my table. It has nothing to do with quick, responsible kills that I TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for vs. the folks that pretend that their hamburger came from somewhere else.

It has nothing to do with any of this stuff - it just makes me feel bigger. There, Birdy isn't that what you want to hear and believe? How can you understand w/o putting yourself in our shoes? You can't. You're welcome to your opinion even though your opinion is based fully on ignorance and what other ignorant folks have told you. All the while gladly taking your hard earned money to support their "cause". A cause that spreads lies and rumors vs. being results-oriented and fair.

I could go on and on. It doesn't matter though what I and many others believe. What matters is economics. From an economic standpoint, resources (however cold that may sound, animals are indeed resources) either survive via utilizing them. Or if they have no value in society, then they eventually go away. It's a fact of life.

An example would be the banning of ivory back in the 70's. George Bush senior I believe performed this major snafu. What happened? Well, now that the previously paying American hunters no longer paid to legally hunt. The locals that relied on that resource still had to feed their families. Once ivory became illegal, the price of ivory skyrocketed on the black market. Forcing these folks to find new ways to feed their families. And, the population of both elephants and rhinos has diminished greatly since the 70's.

You a-holes got the California Condors. There's about a dozen of them now. We (hunters) got the Wild Turkey. There's now approximately 12 MILLION of them in just about every state. Need I say more?

I'm gonna go fry a squirrel...

People come in and out of forums on the net just to see how much disturbance they can cause. Don't play into it.
We know who and what we are. We pay for habitat through license fees. We help balance numbers through the harvest of game. We know more about the outdoors than the vast majority of people. We love to hunt and fish. Taxidermy can be an art, hobby, business or whatever we make of it. Got to cut this short- have to add the veggies to my venison neck roast!

You sad little people...

This response submitted by Lord Durvok II on 08/27/2003. ( MyEmailAdress@wherever.com ) 64.12.96.10

Humans run mostly on instinct (1/3 Learned actions, 1/3 reasoning, 1/3 instinct; in that order). For instance, Marty proved that he hunts to feel like a man (dominance instinct). He doesn't really. He is kidding, but other people really do these things. Also, our sex drive exceeds most other species (a scientist's excuse is "we do it for pleasure"), we kill others to survive, we reflexively hit eachother when angry, etc.
I agree though: humans are above the other animals! I mean, only humans are smart enough to destroy forests and the ozone layer... <deafening cough>
