WHAT TO PUT IN TUMBLER?

I recently bought a used tumbler and want to "fire it up". I will be
tumbling small birds (crows, pheasants) and coons & foxes, etc. I was wondering if there is something that I could purchase locally as opposed to through the taxidermy supply catalogues hat could be used.

Mike if you have a local saw mill or someone that mills trees just get the sawdust from them or maybe a local cabinet maker or a wood shop could save some for you

Use hardwood saw dust only. No pine, cedar, etc.
Also, I go to my local pet store and buy bird litter. ( Corn Cob Grit ) A lot cheaper that supply house. Mix 50 / 50 between the grit and sawdust. Makes a beautiful bird.
