if the form mouth on an open mouth fox is not deep enough in the corners, how do you alter the form to fit the mouth of the cape? do you just cut and shape the mouth of the form to fit the cape? or is there another way to perform this surgery to the form that works better?, i am a beginner and would be greatful for any info, thanks

When dealing with a skin and a form, ALWAYS trust the form. Make the skin fit properly by aligning you anatomical markers. Put the front lips in place and pin them. Put the back corners in place and pin them. Now you can "pack" the skin into the lip line so that it goes in evenly. You don't want a Joe E. Brown (oops. Too old for you probably. Substitute Carol Burnett or Jim Carey, whichever's mouth is biggest to you.)for a fox.
thanks for the info george, that makes sence i just hope i do it justice thanks again
Tyler, George is totally right- I've seen many deer mounts where the lip line was extended when the "taxidermist" just did not know what to do with all that skin. They look very wierd and your fox would look that way too. Unless you ordered too short a face on the form no alteration should be done. In the event you did in fact order a form that is say 1/2" too short eye to nose (like maybe using a gray fox form on a red fox) the alteration must be done in the midway area of the jaw to look proper when done- never just cut back farther on the lip line and to make the process easier remember to thin those lips very thin.
