I'v used Krowtann a few times know and it seems to work just fine. I wonder if anyone has used it on salt dried skins or if this is even possible?

Parley the first time I used Krowtann was on some deer hides that were dry salted. I only live about 45 minutes from Brian Harness ( the owner of Ozark Woods and inventor of Krowtann ) so I asked him about the results I would get, and at the time Krowtann was fairly new, and he honestly did not know the exact results I would get. He was confident that I would get a good tan, just not sure about the stretch of the cape. The capes turned out great with good stretch and a good tan. I would recommend rehydrating the skins a little before you put them in the tan. Remember the purpose of using Krowtann (other than a great tan), is you can skip the salting, pickling, and pH checking. I would not dream of using any other tan, on any fur bearing mammals. Give Ozark Woods a call if you still have any questions, there number is 1-800-467-0369.

It will work fine, I had a boar cape dry salted rock, hard. I was getting ready to send it out to be wet tanned. But I really wanted to use the cape sooner than what it would take to get back from the tannery. So I just soaked it in some salt water, and when it was pliable again, put it in the Krowtann 2000, and when it came out, it had all the stretch I needed, fleshed great, and mounted up really great. I used buckeye supreme hide paste, and it was sucked down on the form, and showed no drumming. I also put two pieces in a zip lock bag, like I heard mentioned, and they did fine from Febuary, till after the World Show. That was because I lost it under the seat, and the heat finally cooked it. I feel it is best to just go and try something yourself, someone else might say that it does this or does that, but you don't really know what they did to get their results.
