I've recently become interested in taxidermy and wish to learn how to mount an armadillo. I dont live where they are native to and was wondering how most taxidermists that mount as a hobby rather then a buissness get their animals. Armadillos in particular. Are they purchased, and if so are they dead or alive? I'm very new to all this so I really have no idea, any help is appreciated.

Amie, Most animals bought to mount will be dead and frozen. Some are sold skinned and some tanned. If you want to buy an armadillo or other animal you can usually find one by posting what you need under the wanted section on this site. Enjoy, Aaron H.
