Bear Rug ... is it possible to fix? Please help

My family recently watched a year old lab puppy for 2 weeks. The dog's family just came home today and as we were in the basement getting ready for a rummage sale my whole family is having tomorrow.... my dad decided to take a look at his prized possession...a rug that he had made of the first bear he shot with a bow & arrow. As he picked it up, he noticed the face of the bear had been chewed up on the nose and by the tip of the bottom jaw area. Its kinda bad looking but I was hoping it could maybe be fixed. Has anyone ever fixed a stuffed animal like this or had one of there's fixed up a little? I just feel so bad for my dad - he's not the type to show he's upset but I know he's just steaming inside. If anyone knows about this stuff, I can always take some digital pictures of it to show you exactly what's wrong... Please respond, it would be so great. - Jenny

I too have done several rug repairs over the years that fell victim to mans best friend. The funny coincedence though, is that I have a 10 month old black lab now, thats a real chewy kind of gal, and her name is Jenny.

I have an old bear rug that is about 50 years old. It has been folded in a garbage bag for years, now that I have a place for it I would like it if I could fix it up so that I can look at it and remember the good old days ( no I'm not that old yet Hahahahah)
Please help
