If the hide is about seven inches longer than the form, will this be a problem?
Thanks

It's going to be a problem! If you were doing a shoulder mount it wouldn't be to bad. But I'm assuming that you ain't because you entered your question in the Lifesize Category. What you need to do is extend the mannikin lengthwise from where you take it's girth.
How were your measurements so far off?
By chance are you measuring the skinned/stretched out flat hides overall length to get your nose to tail measurment? This of course is going to be greater in length. Remember when you stretch length you lose girth. If measuring a flat skin take the proper circumferece into consideration, then take an approximate measurement.
Now I'm doing a lot of assuming and guessing cause you didn't leave much to go on.
Yes, you could add the needed length, but 7 inches is asking a bit much in my opinion. It just won't look right adding that much. It'll throw off the overall proportions of the form. A couple inches max. Better to buy another form with the closest correct measurements and go from there.
These are just my opinions... best of luck.
If you tell us what kind of critter you have, what the skin measurements are and how they were taken, maybe we could answer the question with a little more accuracy. As it stands, I don't know if you have a red squirrel or a cape buffalo.
Sorry about the lack of info. It is a wolverine. I bought it already tanned, so I stuck an inflatable beach ball inside it, blew it up as tight as it would get, and took some measurements. Yes, it was rehydrated before I did this. I came up with 2 3/8 nose to eye, 7" nose to back of skull, 36" nose to base of tail, and 25" girth. I have not yet ordered a form for it because I can't really find one that meets the requirements. The closest one is 2 3/8", 5 1/4", 29", and 24 1/2". Hope this info helps out a little better.
Thanks!
I never take the measurements off a tanned rehydrated skin until I have done all my prep work on the face' ears, etc. And really put the emphasis on stretching the skin out for girth, work it with your hands. The tendency of all skins is to stretch land dry long, then after they are tanned they tend to hold the length and the girth needs to be worked back.
Thanks for the info everyone!
