I seen felt strips that are 3" wide for sale at the stores, are they sewn on to the bottom felt first and then sewn to the hide.
And how are the wave look on the boarders made.

Kim,
yep, I sew mine to my bottom felt first then sew to hide.
You can do the scallop edge 2 ways - 1 use a pair of pinking shears and cut the curves the whole way around the bottom felt & do the same to your boarder strip before you sew it down if not already done. That's the way I did it for years and then my hands and wrists couldn't take that anymore. Then I bought a pinking machine, that's the 2nd way. You just feed the felt in the edge and turn the handle. The scallops are smaller but still looks great and saves alot of work. Van Dykes have them for $169. But search e-bay for one, that's where I picked mine up for $60. and it is a Van Dykes machine.
Hope that helps!

Pleats

They are called pleats(sp) and they can be sewn by using a pleating foot on a sewing machine. You can buy pinked border felt in 20 yard strips from Hide and Beak Supply. I sew my two border colors together and then to a denim backing(not felt) and then to the bear skin.
