help with zebra hide for rug

Today I am trying to save a zebra hide for a rug that was not shaved correctly. I am having a heck of a time trying to get it to lay flat! It was not shaved thin enough. Anyone know of any cures other than hope some of the creases dry out. I have it on 3 pcs of plyboard and nailing my self to death. I had soaked it for two hours then let it sweat overnight....still has memory mostly toward the back half. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate some sort of solution. I hate these last ditch efforts...but I will proceed till it is saved...HELP!...thanks...Boxie

Zebra have several layers of skin to seal in the moisture better than other Equid.

Mix a solution of 3 tablespoons baking soda and 8 ounces of water. Brush this on with a cheap white bristled paint brush, it should relax the skin and let you stretch it.

Thank you John C
