I was hoping some of you big time hunters could give me some information on productive ways to hunt coyotes. I have never attempted this, nor know anyone that has. I believe our coyote harvest each year can be counted on one hand. There are not many in this area, but I managed to see a beautiful colored yote not too long ago. I am located on the eastern coast, so I assume their behavior is different than their western relatives to an extent. I have no clue on how you hunt them! Any ideas or proven methods are appreciated. Thanks in advance!

JHO...Jesses hunting and outdoors, there is a varmit/predator hunting forum on Jesses page, along with any other type of hunting you can imagine. Just as there are great professional taxidermists to answer taxidermy questions on here, there are "big time" predator hunters/big game hunters on that forum.

Hope this helps you out with yotes!
Pick up a Johnny Stewart varmint caller and get busy. I believe it comes with a video. Even if you don't have luck calling in a yote, you will call in various other furburers. Coon, bobcats, crows etc. I use mine for calling in wild hogs.
My good friend George Brint developed and sells the best coyote decoy I have ever seen. Go to his website at www.decoyheart.com and check it out. His decoy is also avavailable through Cabela's. He also sells calls and is featured on Primos' predator hunting video.
sandles, I'm in NC and here some guys have been very successful using howler calls. They have taken many and usually score on them 2 at a time getting the pairs that show up seperatly about 15 to 30 minutes apart. Only thing is if you call one in and it gets away you won't trick them again with the same tactic. They hunt spots with sign or after sightings and don't try to call them to places where they have not been. They have tried many calls but swear by the howler. They give it a loud drawn out series of yips and howls, get quiet and ready the gun. After a half hour or so they use a rabbit squeeler and if nothing shows they leave the area to return another day. Now that's what they tell me--Aaron H.
