I just recieved a wet tanned coyote I bought and am not sure I can mount it. I recieved it yesterday as expected and from my guess it was not too awful long ago thawed out. When I pulled it from the bag it was in it was slimy and had a few small slip spots on the body. After looking it over it would appear as though most of the hide is in various stages of slipping and the black epidermis around the lips and eyes is desintigrating. The nose skin is loosely attached and the ears are also precariuos at best.
This is the first "wet tanned" critter I've ever worked with and would like to know if this is normal. I've yet to buy the mannikin and don't want to waste any more money if it is useless to try. Any input will be appreciated. Thank you.

Bill, the yote was wet tanned and put in the freezer about 6 months or so ago. I did not notice anything when i bagged it up and froze. Sounds as if it did not neutralize before being tanned and that is why slippage and what appears to be eroding of the mouth skin. if this is so, let me know and a full refund is definetally in order, no problem. Sometimes we do not always check things after the fact as good as we should and this is no exception. If any problems, let me know and we will take care of it propmtly

I appreciate your understanding. I came here first just to see if I was being unneccessarily too picky about something that wasn't a problem other than in my own mind. The yote is back in the freezer. I'll wrap him up and send him back to you. Thanks again.

If it is slipping why would you want to mount it. If it has already started to slip, handling it thought the mounting process will only facilitate the slippage. you will wind up with a mount that is not suitable to even sell on Ebay. Coyote hides are cheep. Why waist time messing with junk. Come trapping season I can get yotes for $10.00 each. Find a trapper in your area, and he will be happy to sell you nice prime yotes. Reasonable. just so he won't have to skin them.
