Odor from mounted Javelina

Just mounted our first life-size javelina - we bought the javelina hide from another taxidermist that had already wet tanned it. It didn't have any odor when it arrived and it was completely dry - we rehydrated as we were suppose to but now that it has been mounted there is a foul odor coming from the area of the scent gland located on it's back area. Any suggestions as to how we can get rid of this odor - malogon a possibility? The rest of the body doesn't have this odor just the area where the scent gland is located.

Cut out the scent gland

You probably have to comb back the hair to even see it. cut about the size of a quarter all the way around it and throw it away. Sculpt an artificial gland using Apoxie sculpt. It wont be any more difficult than sculpting an anus on a LM bass. If you are competing you should mold and cast an artificial gland because the real one shrinks up anyway.
