Using real bear nose?

Submitted by Mark on 09/04/2003. ( ) 12.172.242.136

I was wondering if anyone out there has ever used the real bear nose instead of an artificial one when mounting a bear? I've used the artificial one's but would like the try using the real nose just like on whitetail's. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Before there was artificial noses all we had was the skin.

Artificial noses have not been around to long. I prefer to use the outer skin over the art. interior.

Just thin the nose down as you would for the eyes, sometimes you can get away with using the inner cartlidge, but thats dependent on YOUR SKILLS>

Mark, Easiest way, I think, is to cut away the nose on the form and fill out the actual nose with critter clay. Nasal passages are better looking with less effort. Hey, it's easier than an artificial nose. Enjoy, Aaron H.
