Artificial Bear Nose

I was just watching a research manikin video on bear rugs and they used an artificial nose that was made of foam. They used pins to help hold skin up to the nose. I just got some artificial noses from Mackenkie Taxidermy and the nose is made of plastic. How do I keep the skin next to the nose since I can't use pins in it?

Superglue

you carefully trim the old nose off the cape. maount the new nose on the manikin, mount it up and superglue the hide to the little flanged edge of the nose. Once dry model it in.

This is how I do it anyway.

If you have a dremel tool and an engraving bit, rout a trough all the way around the nose, at the edge next to the part of the artificial nose that shows. Then leave about 1/16 of an inch of nose skin on the hide, and tuck this nose skin in the trench you made until the hair snugs up against the artificial nose. I used Buckeye hidepaste and pushed it up after I had the tuck done. I picked this up from Brenda DuVall and again from Jody Slusher at a seminar in WI last year. Good luck.
