Ive become a fairly good fish taxidermist, but i thought i might try my hand at small mamals, so i went out and shot a nice grey squirrel with my .22 and figured i would start with something easy so i was wondering if anyone could tell me the best/easiest way to preserve the tail.

Work It back and forth with fingers to loosen...then you get a good grip and pull the tail bone out..you can work a little borax In there?

some one told me to just salt it

someone told me today to just put it in a container and cover it in salt for a week with out taking out the bone, i really dont care if its flexable when im done, so i dont want to tan it. would the salt method work though?
