I think I have too much time on my hands! I was thinking about the difference between hair and fur. What is fur categorized as? Like we say...deer hair.....but is it fur? I thought hair was something that continually grows while fur is shed. Or is fur only something that can be worn on a coat for instance?
I know this is a stupid question....but I would like some opinions / facts so I can store this with all the other useless information I have stored in my head. LOL. Thanks for the responses in advance!

....Their "hair" twice a year. Furbearers, like beaver have a non prime period during the year, so they obviously shed the good "fur" too. Fox and coyote appear to have a coat of longer guard "hair" with "fur" underneath. Then what is a sheep's "wool"? Is it hair or is it fur? Confused yet?

Both are merely English words.
Some people use different terms for different things.
For example "trapping" is called "recreational killing" by some.
"Wool" is called "mouton sheep fur" by some.
"Beef" is "cow".
Just different words for the same thing.
You can get better results when searching (eBay for example, but also the web) by typing in some of these changes, for example if you want a cow pelt, you best type in "cowhide rug" but if you want a mink for mounting, you best type in "mink fur pelt".
Just industry lingo.
It was more just for a technicality type question...just for my own personal thoughts. It was just one of those things that POPPED into my head...so I was wondering which was fact verse fiction, Thanks anyhow.
