Restoring an old coyote mount

Submitted by BJ on 10/14/2003. ( ) 66.207.0.74

I have an old coyote mount that I want to restore. Mainly it is just dirty (dusty). The nose is faded and the fur has been stained by a vandals paintball (water soluable). CanI repaint the nose or use lynseed oil or something?
Any tips?

Thanks

Easy

Yes, you can repaint the nose. Then I would put mod podge on it. I would take a damp cloth to try and remove the paint. An airhose or hairdrier should blow the dust right off. Coyote should be good as new (or at least as close as possible).

YES...

I refurbished an old moose mount in poor shape this spring. It was about 50 years old, very dirty, and cigarette smoke stained. I use a product called Mount Brite. I doubled the concentration reccommended.
It turned out surprisingly well. Paint it on with a paint brush, let it sit for a while, and then wipe it off with soft cloth.
Hope this helps.
