1. Leave in salt for as long as you want (even years) until tanning, or
2. Bring out of salt and just hang somewhere to dry until tanning.

I just searched with the orange search button using the keyword "salting" and came up with 1060 different post on "salting" . When you say "help me understand"..Are you saying that you have read through 1060 posts about "salting" and still dont get it? READ MAN READ! Now salting is really simple and with the search button, noway could anyone miss that hit.
Dave, salt again and leave until the salt has removed all the liquid in the skin then brush the saly off and let hang dry until you are ready to often in wash and pickle or what ever... Now there's 1061 hits on salting in the archives. But Dave's right. I was just in a good mood.
