How Can A Beginner Like Me Skin My First Coyote?

Submitted by Sam on 11/28/2003. ( Choppercrazie@aol.com ) 64.12.96.203

Hey guys,

This year is going to be my first coyote hunt. I just bought all my calls for this so I am excited about it. If anyone can please email me how to skin a coyote from time of kill till the last step of a simple tanning (which I will keep for myself). Also the least expensive way will be good (holidays and 2 kids do it to ya). Thank you ahead of time for who ever can help me and have agreat holiday to all. Email- choppercrazie@aol.com

Please reconsider

Sam please reconsider your decision to kill these beautiful magnificent creatures. Consider getting a refund on the calls that you purchased and investing in a camera. You will still be able to enjoy the "hunt" and you will have photos to remember the experience.

As usaual the chicken Sh**! animal rights no name is back, Typical!
Sam, hunting Coyotes is a blast (punn intended). If you are successful and I hope you are you can still take pictures with you dead coyote. Anyway to your question. If it is going to hang on the wall the wall tube cut it from the back flesh and salt it. After salting for 24 hours shake the wet salt out and resalt one more time. the next day shake out salt, hang and let dry for a couple of day's. I then send the hides out for commercial tanning.

I WOULD GET AN EXPIERINCED SKINNER TO DO IT just watch and learn. Coyotes are big animals and have alot of skin on them.YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO MESS UP THE SKIN. instead, try skinning a small animal like a rabbit. You will get alot of practice with rabbits and you wont be ruining big skins.

Don't be put down with some PETA, or animal rights IDIOT!. They all come and go. I've been predator hunting for quite awhile, and it's a great sport. Don't be discourage the first few time's going out and getting skunked. It happens to the best of us. Enjoy the sport, have fun and be safe while doing it. Go to Google and type in case skinning. You'll get all information and photo's you need to do a great job. The first few might seem a little hard, but it's actually a very easy process. Again, good luck with your hunting, be safe and have fun.

Hey guys

Thank for all the great advice and support. As for the anti- hunters they don't bother me I've been Deer hunting since I'm 14 years old that is 10 year of people trying to tell me about not hunting. But always remember hunt safe and proper. Thanks again.
