I was wondering do you guys use padding on your cougar rugs? Do you use the felt borders or is the felt one piece and you put your two differnt colors of felt on? would look in archives but computer gives me an error every time I try to do it. Thank you DWL.

To each his own

Everyone has their own techniques. And this question will probably net you several opinions. Here is Mine. I use a poly fill pad. back it with 24 oz. felt on each side, with the bottom felt cut 2 inches larger overall than the top felt. The three pieces are sewn together. I usually quilt them in a diamond pattern. then the pad is sewn to the hide. I feel this gives the rug a quality professional appearance.

How best to attach a mounted cougar rug to the wall

This response submitted by bcgrizz on 12/02/2003. ( jeanduvette@excite.com ) 139.142.246.242

I have inherited a cougar rug and a wolf rug (both already on felt) and was wondering what is the best way to affix them to the wall? I've been told to just tack them through the felt but won't the weight of the skins just damage the felt? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

D Rings

We use a D ring and sew it onto the backing. You can get these at any hardware store and they hand sew on in about 5 minutes. Put one on each of the legs, one on the head and one on the tail and hang it up. If it tilts or pulls, put another one at that spot. Its simple, cheap and works great
