John C?

I've been in the Land of Orange, but...
I thought that you had an alternative way of doing deer feet gunracks in the archives somewhere, but I did not find it. Can you refresh my memory as to how to do it or where to find it? I wanted to try it on javelina feet, unless you know where I can get a form for them. I know I can use the bone, but I'm not sure about fastening it to the panel. Would I just run threaded rod through it? My son killed a javelina this weekend, now I have to spend 2 days in the kitchen making tamales.
Thanks, BP

You can do it before it sets up or after. I prefer after.

I tie the foot up to form the hook portion and inject with formaldahyde (DIXIELAND SUPPLY), use goggles gloves and apron out side.

Heavily inject between the toes anywhere you can get the needle it.

I then set it aside until I cannot move it. Now using a slow speed drill, drill out the marrow and into that first joint.

Flush very well and clean with lacquer thinner. Figure out the length of threads you need exposed and set the althread or bolt with your favorite epoxy.

You will have to figure out the thread depth for your panel of choice get rosettes from Dixieland or Van Dykes.

While many may not agree with this method, I have personally used it for over 30-35 years and never had one problem with the finished product.

To polish the hooves, use 1000 grit sandpaper and smooth the hooves well.

With a flannel wheel on your bench grinder and plastic rouge, you can polish the hoove to a mirror shine and have all the nice, makings show through.

Once you figure it out max time is 15 minutes per pair and they will make you a dollar or two.

If you need any additional help just ask.
